At a glance

Rawai Muay Thai opened in November 2003 and is run by brothers Tuk and Fin, both of whom trained at Lumpinee and Ratchadamnoen stadiums in Bangkok. Despite the name, the camp relocated from Phuket and now sits near Khao Lak, about an hour north of Phuket airport. It has 40 private rooms and bungalows on site, a pool, and runs two group classes a day six days a week.

Head of the team and founder of the camp. Tuk grew up in Thap Lamu and fought all over Thailand before opening his own gym in Phuket in 2003, later relocating it to Khao Lak.

Tuk's brother, who grew up as a fighter in Bangkok. He oversees the fighter training program and runs group classes.
Ajan Boon

40 years of experience
One of the oldest teachers at the camp, Ajan Boon was Tuk's trainer in Bangkok when Tuk first went there as a young boy. He has been with Rawai since it opened in 2003.

Training and accommodation are priced separately. Rooms run from 3,000 to 10,000 THB per week depending on type and season (low season May to September, high season October to April). All 40 rooms have a private kitchen, fridge, WiFi and a porch with hammock. Confirm current rates at rawaimuaythai.com before booking.

Training and schedule

Monday to Saturday. Morning group class 08:00 to 10:00, afternoon group class 16:00 to 18:00. Private lessons available 10:00 to 15:00 and 18:00 to 20:00 daily, including Sundays.

Rooms

Forty private rooms and bungalows on site in VIP (about 50 sqm), air-conditioned standard (30 to 36 sqm) and budget fan-only configurations. All have a private bathroom, kitchen, fridge, WiFi and a porch with hammock. A pool is on site. Training and rooms are priced separately.

Who it suits

A good fit for people who want a family-run camp with its own rooms and pool away from Phuket crowds. The quieter Khao Lak setting suits longer stays and recovery. Not ideal for those who want MMA or BJJ alongside Muay Thai, or a large social gym.

Common questions

Is Rawai Muay Thai in Rawai, Phuket?
Despite the name, the camp relocated and is now in Khuk Kak, Takua Pa, Phang Nga province, about an hour north of Phuket airport. The name stayed after the move.
Do I need experience to train?
No. The camp trains all levels, from complete beginners to professional fighters, men and women of all ages.
Can I train without staying on site?
Yes. Training and accommodation are separate, so you can train on a session, weekly or monthly rate while staying elsewhere.
